Ripple wins final US approval for national trust bank

Ripple has secured final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for Ripple National Trust Bank, completing a chartering process that began with conditional approval in December 2025. The federally supervised trust bank is authorized to manage reserves backing Ripple USD, act as collateral trustee for RLUSD holders, and provide digital asset custody, while RLUSD will continue to be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company under New York regulation. Ripple follows Circle in receiving final OCC approval, as other crypto firms such as Coinbase, Crypto.com, and Bridge remain at the conditional approval stage.

Keystone breach deepens: Hackers stole key used to verify wallets as genuine

Keystone’s website breach has widened beyond a customer data leak: hackers also stole an authentication key that could allow counterfeit hardware wallets to pass authenticity checks, potentially enabling asset theft. The company said it will destroy 18,835 inventory devices containing the compromised key and suspend shipments until it can produce devices with a new key, while warning that devices delivered after Oct. 20 cannot be guaranteed authentic. Keystone also disclosed that up to 25,964 buyer records and 12,873 Shopify checkout records may have been exposed, and it urged affected customers to contact support for verification.

Binance files for Brazil crypto license ahead of Friday deadline

Binance has applied for a cryptocurrency service provider license in Brazil through its local entity, BBrasil, ahead of the country’s Oct. 30 deadline for existing providers to submit authorization applications. The exchange is delisting 22 crypto assets for Brazilian users and restricting services such as crypto lending and margin trading to comply with current regulations, while hoping continued talks with the Central Bank of Brazil will allow it to restore some offerings soon. The filing does not constitute regulatory approval, but Binance says it aims to maintain access to crypto assets, stablecoin trading, payments and investment services in one of Latin America’s largest crypto markets.

Bitcoin price analysis sees ‘strong rally’ as old coins become dormant

Bitcoin onchain data is flashing early bull-market signals, according to CryptoQuant. The share of realized cap held by coins dormant for 18 months or longer hit 26.98% on Sept. 16, its highest since mid-November 2024. Analysts say a rise followed by a decline in this cohort has historically preceded strong rallies, though the current reversal is modest—suggesting the market is only in the early stages of a bullish cycle.

Galaxy Digital similarly calls the recent downturn the “shallowest” bear market on record, with a maximum drawdown of -53%. It notes that coins unmoved for five years or more—previously a supply overhang—are now moving more slowly, with 2026 supply averaging 34,000 BTC per month versus 67,000 in 2024. That reduced old-coin selling supports the case for a fresh long-term uptrend.
