MediaMarktSaturn pulls Ledger products amid tampering reportsMediaMarktSaturn, the parent of European retailer MediaMarkt, has removed all Ledger products from its stores and online platforms and says it is in contact with the manufacturer after reports of tampered hardware wallets, including an X user’s claim that two wallets bought from separate MediaMarkt stores contained unauthorized cables and cellular modules. The concerns follow Ledger’s investigation into devices sold through Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis, where it said implants transmitted users’ recovery phrases over cellular networks, and Ledger is now probing reports beyond CryptoBilis. Separately, former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès said a Ledger Flex purchased at Singapore’s airport contained a spy implant, while Ledger referred users to its CryptoBilis update without directly addressing that case and did not respond to Cointelegraph about whether tampered devices were confirmed in Europe.

Chinese fraud victims lose key court battle over 61,000 BitcoinA UK High Court has dealt a setback to Chinese fraud victims seeking to recover 61,000 seized Bitcoin, ruling that Chinese law—not English law—must govern their claims because the relevant harm and transactions occurred in China. The dispute stems from Zhimin Qian’s 2014–2017 investment fraud, with British authorities seizing the Bitcoin during a money-laundering investigation; victims had hoped English law would let them claim direct ownership rather than merely seek compensation. The case will remain in London for further proceedings and expert evidence on Chinese law to determine whether victims can establish property interests in the seized assets, now worth over $5 billion, while their lawyers pursue an appeal.

South Korea moves to block 27 crypto websites, including KuCoin, MEXCSouth Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit approved measures to block domestic access to 27 websites operated by unregistered crypto exchanges and virtual asset service providers, including KuCoin, MEXC, Phemex and Bitrue. The move follows earlier restrictions on unregistered crypto apps and applies to platforms that have not registered under the country’s anti-money laundering law. The FIU acknowledged that existing users could face difficulty withdrawing assets and said it will provide withdrawal guidance and support through DAXA with cooperation from the operators.

Bitcoin drops 2.2% as Ukraine, Iran strikes send oil toward one-month highBitcoin briefly hit $84,254 before falling as much as 2.2% as geopolitical tensions pushed oil higher. Ukraine accused Russia of continuing energy strikes despite a ceasefire moratorium, while an oil tanker was hit in the Strait of Hormuz, sending WTI above $94 and Brent to $107.25. BTC remained rangebound ahead of key US CPI and PPI data. Analysts saw mixed signals: oil may have priced in too much risk, while Bitcoin options still left room for an upside breakout. Traders watched $83,400 as resistance, with asks near $84,500 and bids building around $82,000.
