Senate crypto bill at risk beyond midterms if not passed by August: NYDIG

NYDIG research head Greg Cipolaro warns the Senate’s crypto market structure bill may fail to advance if it doesn’t reach a floor vote by early August, before Congress recesses and midterm election politics crowd out contested legislation. Although the bill has cleared a Senate Banking Committee markup, it still needs 60 votes on the floor amid delays and disputes over stablecoins, ethics rules, and enforcement concerns. If it misses the June–early August window, its best remaining chance could be a post-election lame-duck session—while a Democratic Senate takeover could effectively end the bill’s prospects.

Goldman Sachs exits XRP, Solana ETF exposure in Q1 2026

Goldman Sachs sharply reduced its crypto ETF exposure in Q1 2026, exiting all XRP- and Solana-linked funds that it previously held at roughly $154 million in XRP ETFs and positions in several Solana products. The bank also trimmed its Bitcoin ETF holdings by about 10% and cut its iShares Ethereum Trust position by around 70%, while still maintaining sizable stakes in both BTC and ETH funds. At the same time, it reshaped its crypto equity exposure—boosting holdings in Circle and Galaxy Digital and adding to Coinbase, Robinhood, and PayPal, while reducing positions in miners and infrastructure names like Riot and Bit Digital.

Bitcoin falls to $76K after Trump says ‘clock is ticking’ for Iran

Bitcoin slid to around $76,000 in early Asian trading after renewed US-Iran tensions rattled market sentiment. The drop erased gains made since May 1, following a recent run toward $83,000 that had been fueled by spot Bitcoin ETF inflows and optimism around the US CLARITY Act; the sell-off intensified after President Trump warned that the “clock is ticking” for Iran.

The move coincided with heavy deleveraging: roughly $677 million in crypto liquidations over 24 hours, including about $190 million in Bitcoin long liquidations. Traders are now watching key technical levels, with some analysts saying $76,000 must hold to avoid broader downside; if it breaks, attention shifts to $71,000–$73,000 and potentially a revisit of the $65,000 demand area.
