AI agents move closer to tokenized RWAs

Artificial intelligence is gaining ground across crypto, but RWAs remain difficult for agents to assess because key information is scattered across legal documents and market sources.

BIS Project Agorá settles $1 million in tokenized cross-border payment trials

Project Agorá, a BIS initiative exploring tokenized wholesale payments, completed real-value settlements of 800,000 Swiss francs ($1 million) across 17 scenarios involving 28 institutions and six currencies. The trials used tokenized central bank reserves and commercial bank deposits, achieving an average settlement time of about 80 seconds. With major central banks and global lenders participating, the BIS called the July tests an important milestone as the project continues.

Coinbase Q2 profit misses estimates despite record crypto market share

Coinbase reported mixed second-quarter results on Thursday, missing Wall Street’s profitability expectations. The exchange posted roughly $1.2 billion in net revenue, in line with forecasts but down 19% from a year earlier. Its GAAP net loss widened to $359 million, far exceeding the $122 million loss analysts had projected, while transaction revenue and subscription and services revenue also fell short of consensus estimates.

Despite the earnings miss, Coinbase captured an all-time-high 10.3% share of global crypto trading volume, up from 9.1% in the first quarter. The company attributed weaker revenue to a 25% quarterly drop in spot trading volume, low volatility, and softer crypto prices. It continues to position itself as an “Everything Exchange,” focusing on growth in derivatives, stablecoins, and tokenized finance. Shares fell more than 5% in after-hours trading.
