Liquid recovers 3,400 BTC as hacker asks “is that ok?” after pocketing $47 million in BitcoinThe Sept. 7 return replenished the federation wallet, but Blockstream still listed a public bridge outage the following morning.
Hello, Tuesday.Crypto’s resilience case is being tested less by price narratives than by operational design, custody safeguards and macro conditions. Vitalik Buterin’s confidence that AI will not break crypto stands against a UBS reversal that could extend rate pressure on Bitcoin through December. The stakes are clearest where protections fail: an XRP lending model can leave depositors bearing most of a bad loan’s loss, while Orionx froze withdrawals after funds left custody. Harmony’s proposed move to Ethereum also shows how difficult sustaining an independent network can become, even as the Liquid sidechain recovered about 3,400 BTC after a reserve drain that saw roughly 598.5 BTC worth around $47 million sent to an address whose operator posted an on-chain “is that ok?” message. The global crypto market cap is $2.68 trillion, with a 24-hour volume of $85.93 billion. The price of Bitcoin is $78,562.27, and BTC market dominance is 58.8%. The price of Ethereum is $2,487.80, and ETH market dominance is 11.3%. The best-performing sector is Play-to-Earn, which gained 6%. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index is currently Greed (69).
