📡 Major airdrop sybil attack worth $170 million spotted by Bubblemaps

While the entire Web3 market saw a major drop in August, gaming kept its head up. In our gaming report we dive deeper into this topic. Various market analysts say that Bitcoin could reach $160,000 before the end of the year, and now even the SEC is positive about crypto. 🟦 NFT-powered action adventure game Pudgy Party has been downloaded over 500,000 times. The game taps into the Mythos blockchain, and is build using the Pudgy Penguins franchise. (Yes, this is actually a fun game!)

🔷 Bubblemaps has flagged the biggest sybil attack ever on an airdrop. Through automated processes 100 wallets managed to claim 9.8 million MYX tokens, worth around $170 million. This makes it the biggest sybil attack ever on an airdrop. In case you don't know, during a sybil attack one user utilizes multiple accounts, identities or IP addresses to achieve something... in this case, getting the airdrop.

🔵 Apple announced the iPhone 17, which you can pre-order starting this week. The smartphone comes with new security features which are good for crypto users, thanks to hardware-level memory protection. This should prevent hijack signing operations. These types of attacks are part of 70% of all software flaws and often exploited in zero-day attacks. Long story short, the iPhone 17 is more secure. (source)

🟦 NASDAQ has requested the SEC to enable trading of tokenized stocks on US regulated exchanges. That's the RWA narrative reaching true mainstream adoption.

🔷 Another bit of RWA news, because Ant Group - backed by Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma - is planning to tokenize $8.4 billion(60 billion yuan) in energy infrastructure and power assets. AntChain has 15 million devices, such as wind turbines and solar panels linked to its network. (source)

🔵 The SEC announced 'Project Crypto' earlier this week, proposing a unified regulatory framework for digital asset trading, lending, and staking. The goal? Clear rules, and reduced enforcement action against most crypto tokens. Chairman Paul Atkins said; "Crypto's come has come". (source)

🔥 7 out of 10 top games are on Sei Network

With casual gameplay, a wide variety of games on Sei Network has mainstream appeal, and that shows in the numbers. Out of the 10 top games in the blockchain space, 7 tap into Sei Network. While World of Dypians, a gaming metaverse built across multiple chains, is leading the pack, Kawaii Puzzle and Hot Spring: The Cozy World managed to take silver and bronze.

Each of the top 10 gaming projects has attracted over 1,000,000 active wallets in August. Various games that once were among the top games, have now been canned. Among them Age of Dino, which will cease operations by the end of September.

While gaming is still a dominant vertical in Web3, the sector has seen a 4% decline in active wallets when compared to the previous month.
