What's Does This Mean?

For many investors, at least nowadays, bitcoin and its digital gold narrative is relatively straightforward. But, what about all the other coins, tokens, networks, projects, protocols? How do we even think about them, or where do we begin? It's overwhelming.

One approach we can take is to look at crypto through the lens of fundamental analysis. Like most traditional investments, there's market and fundamental data we can examine to inform our decisions on an "apples to apples" basis.

For the Normies in the Back

DYORing (see Web3 Word of the Week below) isn't as intimidating as you may think. Crypto can be investigated in a familiar way—similar to how you research stocks.

Chop At The Top

Bitcoin and the broader crypto market struggled to push higher following last week's move towards the top of the BTC multi-month 50k-70k range. No breakout for now!

Aside from running into resistance at the top of the range, implied and realized volatility remains sticky at current levels.

On a relative basis, the bitcoin over everything theme remains, with bitcoin market cap dominance now at 59%, its highest level in three years.

Conversely, Ethereum has significantly underperformed bitcoin with YTD relative performance now at -50% and the ETH/BTC ratio now trading at its lowest level since 2021. Ouch!
