🎉 Total Value Locked in DeFi from $113B to $134B

Despite crypto price fluctuations, DeFi has seen a strong May 2025. The sector grew the total value locked in its platforms from $113 billion at the beginning of the month, to $134 billion by the end. With a 19% gain, Ethereum is still market leader with $105 billion TVL. Solana follows with $13.1 billion, and then BNB Chain with $4.75 billion. However, Polygon and Ronin experienced the biggest gains, which you can explore through the DeFi narrative page.

🚀 Base sees massive growth amidst AI agent trend

With more than 21 million active wallets in the past 30 days, Base has seen 108% growth during that period. This pushes Base ahead of Aptos, all thanks to the success of AI agents. Virtuals grew 458% to 40,960 active wallets. However, the biggest contributors are decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap, 1inch Network and Jumper. With WorldShards, Base also has a gaming product finding success.

Sandbox online role-playing game WorldShards has been making waves on Base, attracted over 355,360 active wallets in the past 7 days. $GRUMPY, the Grumpy Cat memecoin on Solana, managed to increase its value by 321% over the past week. The token launched in November 2024, and is now really seeing a revival. In May it was 6 years since Tardar Sauce, the mixed breed cat with dwarfism, passed away at the age of 7. But the memes are still going strong.
