Bitcoin eyes Q1 highs despite weak jobs report

The market's already bracing for a less generous Fed, and legislative tailwinds could give Bitcoin a boost.

Bitcoin could hit fresh all-time highs in Q1, even as the latest jobs data came in weaker than expected, says Zach Pandl, Grayscale's head of research.

The U.S. added 143,000 jobs in January—just shy of forecasts—but Pandl isn't sweating it. He told Cointelegraph that

Bitcoin is "likely to take today's jobs report in stride" and that while the Fed may hold off on rate cuts for now, this won't significantly shake market expectations.

'Hawk Tuah' girl breaks silence on memecoin disaster

Haliey Welch says trusting the wrong people was her biggest mistake.

After two months of radio silence, Haliey Welch—aka the "Hawk Tuah" girl—finally spoke up about the HAWK memecoin debacle in an interview with podcaster FaZe Banks.

Welch says she was told the project had long-term potential and would be a positive force in crypto. But she now admits she didn't really understand the space and launched the token because she was promised half the proceeds would go to charity.

SPOILER: That didn't happen.

"It was brought to me in a positive way — it was going to be something good and long-term, but it didn't go that route at all, so it was like a smack in the face."

"SEC drags feet on Ethereum ETF options—again

U.S. regulators greenlit Bitcoin ETF options in 2024, but they're taking their sweet time with Ethereum.

The SEC just bought itself more time to decide whether options trading on Ether ETFs gets the green light. A new regulatory filing on Feb. 7 gives the agency until April 2025 to make the call.

Creating an options market for ETH ETFs would be a major step toward wider adoption.

Since their debut in July 2024, these funds have racked up around $9 billion in net assets, according to The Block.

Justin Sun vs. HTX co-founder: The feud is back

Sun alleges fraud, while Li fires back.

Justin Sun just reignited his long-running beef with HTX (formerly Huobi) co-founder Leon Li, accusing him of fraud in a fiery X post.

Sun claims Li hid key due diligence materials when selling HTX, leaving a $30 million hole in the exchange's balance sheet—money Sun says he personally fronted but hasn't been repaid.

Li hasn't denied the missing $30 million, but he's pushing back on Sun's version of events, blaming the shortfall on margin calls from risky leveraged trades.

And just like that, the drama is back.
